Mission Statement
The C.F. Richards family exists to show children Jesus, nurture their love for Him and others, teach them to think, and empower them to serve.

Our Philosophy
C.F. Richards Junior Academy is operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church to provide a spiritually oriented education for children. A belief in the existence of the Creator God is fundamental in the philosophy of Seventh-day Adventist schools. We respect His divine authority and recognize His intervention in human affairs. We believe that true education develops the spiritual, mental, and physical powers of each student; preparing them for the joy of service in this life and for the higher joy of service in the life to come. To achieve this goal, we encourage each student to:

  • develop a personal relationship with God and his fellow men as stated in Matthew 2:37-39
  • master the basic academic skills
  • value labor, physical and mental, and
  • cultivate physical fitness, mental ability, and moral purity as the blessing God intended.

C.F. Richards Junior Academy is operated in harmony with the guidance and direction of the Office of Education, North American Division of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Our Approach

At C.F. Richards, our goal is to help our students develop spiritually, academically, physically, and socially, into young people who can live out Christ’s plan for their lives.  Below are just a few of the ways we work to make that happen.

 Spiritual Development
-Daily Worship: Each classroom begins the day with worship, a time for singing, prayer, and reading of the Bible and other religious material. There is no better way to start the school day than by inviting God into each heart and mind!
-Weekly Chapel Services: Each Friday morning the entire student body gathers for a joyous, student-led celebration of Christ.  Skits, musical instrument selections, movies, and more are used to uplift the Savior and develop the God-given talents our students possess.
-Daily Bible Classes: Age-appropriate Bible lessons are taught in each grade to help students grow in their knowledge of the Word of God and their love for the “Word made flesh,” Jesus.
-Fall Week of Prayer and Spring Week of Prayer: twice each school year dynamic guest speakers provide a week of spiritual emphasis and renewal that consistently culminate in some students giving their hearts to Christ for the first time and others renewing their commitment to Him.

Academic Growth

James 1:5 says "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generoously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him."  C.F. Richards teachers and students appear to be asking and receiving.  We have top notch, caring, creative teachers, a low teacher:student ratio, and results that speak for themselves: On the ITBS standardized test, C.F. Richards Junior Academy students average composite score is in the 88th percentile of schools nationwide.

Physical Growth

According to a study reported in the March 26, 2007 issue of Newsweek Magazine "For kids, even a few games of kickball can boost the brain in  widespread, long-lasting ways."  At C.F. Richards, students receive instruction in the care of their body, God's temple, and plenty of brain-boosting exercise  4 - 5 days a week.  Kickball, volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, dodgeball and much more!

 Social Growth

AT C.F. Richards, students are able to participate in school-wide dramatic and choral productions, bell choirs, private musical instruction, and numerous field trips to a wide variety of venues.  Students also learn to work together, pray together, and help others through many of their activities.

These are just some examples of the many ways in which spiritual, academic,  physical, and social growth are purposely facilitated and encouraged at C.F. Richards Junior Academy.
